Anklet Blog Hop - The REVEAL!!!

In April, I heard about the Anklet Blog Hop that Kashmira Patel was hosting. How fun! Since, I've never made an anklet before, I  HAD  to join in!  Yes, it has been a blast!   &  Very interesting too! I've never looked at my ankles so much :)))

The first anklet I did out of chainmaille. It's the European Rosette pattern. Next I added coral & tiger's eye chips. It dangles on the skin so nice!  This anklet turned out to be 10 inches, which from everything I've read is average for an anklet or else I just have big ankles!

At first, I added only a few beads, but then decided it didn't look finished so.....

Added more beads to finish the bracelet. I think it looks better on the ankle & it definitely feels great.

Since I was on a roll, I still had time before the reveal & was looking at a new book that Kalmbach sent me to do a book review on: Metallic Seed Bead Splendor. (Book Review will be coming soon!) I couldn't resist making another project! Page 41 is "Going Baroque with Pearls". Well.....

The pearls and seed beads I have didn't really look right together, therefore.... it was time for adaptations!  Purple crystals & iridescent pink/purple seed beads.  Sorry seed beaders - I'm still learning the names of all the crystals & seed beads. There are sooo many!!!!

This anklet is also about 10 inches long. It looks so good on the ankle and is so pretty, I think I'll make earrings & a bracelet to match.

This was fun! I've learned some new techniques & a new style of beading that I love. Thank you Kashmira! :)))

Here is a list of our wonderful hostess and the 27 participants. HAPPY BLOG HOPPING! :)

  3. I like them both. I still haven't gotten to try any Chainmaille, but I like it as an anklet, so am going to have to bite the bullet and make one. And the seed beading one is cool. But your know me, I 'don't bead'. LOL ill just have to get you to make me one. :) great job.

    1. Thanks Kay, They were both fun to make! Tell me what color you want a seed bead out of & I'll make you one. I kind of like seed beading. It's like sewing!

  4. Love the chainmaille. I love doing chainmaille, but it never occurred to me to use it in an anklet. There was another beautiful chainmaille anklet in this hop. Kudos to both of you. Great job on them. I also love the beaded one. The purple is so royal looking. It was a fun hop and I am proud to say I now am wearing an anklet!

    1. Thank you Jean, I love doing chainmaille too. Although I'm not very good at. The smaller the links, the harder it is. It was a fun hop & I hope we do it again soon. I'm now into making anklets to match my clothes & to sell, of course.

  7. Hi! Great job on both! Very pretty. The second one would be fun to wear out on a dressy night out on the town. :)

    1. That was my thought too. A casual & a dressy to start with. But I'm already adding to my collection. :)

  9. I love the openness and light of the chainmaille. And then you went the other way with dense lush beady goodness. Awesome job!

  10. The chainmaille and dangles one is so fun, and the beaded one just looks so soft and pretty. Wonderful job on both!

  12. Oh wow - I really love both of your anklets. I like the chainmaille one because it's chainmaille (anything chainmaille is awesome to me!) and because of the beautiful bead dangles - love those!! But the seed bead one - wow! My hat's off to you w/that one - I bet it feels just heavenly on, too - doesn't it?! Great designs - both of them!

  13. Not sure if my comment just went through of not, so if you get a duplicate here -sorry about that. I wanted to tell you that I really love both of your anklets. The chainmaille one is super cool w/all its dangles (I love chainmaille!) and the seed bead one is super cool - my hat's off to you on that one,...working w/all those tiny little beads is way beyond me! I bet that one feels great on, too! GReat designs - both of them!

    1. Thanks Shel, I really enjoyed making them both & they're so different. Chainmaille & seed beading are two of my newest adventures into beading. This was a fun challenge! :)

  14. I love creating pretty rosettes too! May I ask, what size rings & wire gauge did you use? Pretty! I love your beadwork too, and love that you created from the book you were asked to review! Lucky!! Both designs are beautiful. Have fun wearing your pretty anklets this summer! :)

    1. Thanks a bunch! :) I made a bracelet with the rosettes in April & thought it might make a cute anklet. It did! The jump rings are 5mm 20 gauge. I bought these but next time I'm making my own. I think I'll go 18 gauge 4mm. It'll be more delicate. The beadwork was fun, too! It's a bit dressy but I'm determined to wear it. ;)

    2. Hi Rita, Correction on those jump rings. They are 4mm 20g. The ones I want to make for my next project are 4mm 18 g. But it might not be strong enough unless the weave is tighter. I will have to try it & see what happens.
